Greetings are the most common communicative spoken language in people’s daily lives. Suitable greetings will help people build and keep personal relations hips. Improper greetings may block the communication between people. Greetings are also the important contents in the primary period of Chinese teaching. I had been a Chinese teacher in Korea for almost one year. I mainly taught basic le vel students. So greetings occupied a great proportion in my teaching contents. I think it’s necessary to specially research the greetings teaching to Koreans. This thesis learned from predecessors’ study methods. It summarized the gre etings in Chinese textbooks which were widely used in Korea. It used the meth ods of questionnaire survey and biased error analysis to research student’s learnin g in greeting. Previous study mainly researched the definition, characteristics an d the related teaching theory of greetings. But this thesis focused on offering su ggestions to compile the textbook and some specific teaching methods for greeti ngs teaching.Chapter 1 is the introduction. Firstly, it discussed the motivation of this the sis from two aspects:Koreans’ passion for Chinese and my own teaching situati on. Secondly, it explained the significance of the themes:develop learners’ Chin ese communication competence, help teachers improve the effectiveness of teaching, fill the research gaps of greeting teaching. Lastly, it listed mainly domestic and international research achievements about greetings.Chapter 2 outlined greetings. It defined and categorized greetings. It separa ted the greetings into two parts:salutational greeting and phatic greeting. Salutati onal greeting is the words used to say hello to others to show politeness. Phat ic greeting is the prologue which was used to communicate emotions and expre ss concern.Chapter 3 studied the greetings in the textbooks. It chose Chinese 1 and Daily Chinese as research objects. It summarized the greetings in the three text books and pointed out their deficiency:dialogue did not conform to the fact in rea lity, situational context was ignored, communicative practice was lacked. And th en it offered suggestions to compile the textbooks:add some greetings on the ba sis of original situational context in the textbooks.Chapter 4 analyzed the biased errors in Chinese greetings used by Korean st udents. It used the methods of questionnaire survey to know students’knowledg e about greetings. It summarized biased errors and analyzed the causes of biased errors:shortage of the textbooks, teachers’overlook, the negative transfer of Korea n culture, Students’reasons.Chapter 5 introduced the backgrounds and methods of teaching greetings t o Koreans. It introduced the factors that influence greeting teaching from three asp ects, which are schools, students and status of teaching Chinese to Koreans. On the basis of biased error analysis and backgrounds of teaching greetings, it gave two methods:game teaching method and cultural teaching method.Chapter 6 gave the conclusion. It summarized research achievements and sho rtages of this thesis. It pointed out the suggestions to compile the textbook and teaching methods were useful, but the greetings referred in the thesis is not en ough. It emphasized that the research on teaching greetings to Koreans should be improved.
