A Study On Connotations On Poetry Anthology Of Fan Chuan

Du Mu is a renowned poet of late Tang Dynasty. He got the reputation of "Little Du" and "Little Li Du" at that time.People differentiated him from representational poets such as Du Fu and Li Shangyin of Tang Dynasty because of his superb poetry accomplishment. Connotations on Poetry Anthology of Fan Chuan is written by Feng Ji-wu of Qing Dynasty, which is one of the most important versions about the collation and annotation of the poems of Du Mu. The first version of Connotations on Poetry Anthology of Fan Chuan is four rolls of Poetry Anthology of Fan Chuan,a roll of Another Anthology and a roll of Extra Anthology which was block-printed edition published by De Yu Tang on the Six year of Jiaqing. The Interlinear Notes of Corpus of Du Mu is block-printed edition published in Korea dates back to the 5th year of the reign of Emperor Zhengtong of the Ming Dynasty, which is earlier than the four rolls of Poetry Anthology of Fan Chuan,a roll of Another Anthology and a roll of Extra Anthology. Although Connotations on Poetry Anthology of Fan Chuan is printed later than The Interlinear Notes of Corpus of Du Mu, we can tell from the collations and annotations of the poems of Du Mu that Feng Ji-wu hasn’t chose The Interlinear Notes of Corpus of Du Mu as a reference, that is to say, Feng set the collations and annotations are according to his own ingenuity and pioneering. The most reliable version of the existing anthology of Du is edited by his nephew Pei Yanhan, namely Anthology of Fanchuan. The later versions of Song Dynasty, such as Another Anthology which is edited by TianGai of Song Dynasty, Extra Anthology and so on, includes some poems written not by Du Mu. That is to say,the poems of Anthology of Fanchuan can represents the poetry characteristic of Du Mu best, what’s more,we can regard the Connotations on Poetry Anthology of Fan Chuan written by Feng Ji-wu as the best represent of achievements and characteristics of poems of Du Mu also. All in all, the Connotations on Poetry Anthology of Fan Chuan has played an important and irreplaceable role in the study and accept history of Du Mu’ poems. In this paper, I analysis and summarize the research achievements of predecessors about Du Mu and poems of Du Mu first and also draw lessons from the existing minority achievements on Connotations on Poetry Anthology of Fan Chuan.This thesis mainly to explore from the perspective of bibliography about the version, collation and annotation characteristics of Connotations on Poetry Anthology of Fan Chuan. According to this, we can also study the comments and annotation ideas and attitudes of Feng Ji-wu, the attitudes towatds the excellent traditional culture.Hoping the research of this paper can do good to the study and accept of poems of Du Mu and the study of the annotation of ancient poems also.The thesis is divided into six chapters as a whole. The first chapter is called introduction part which mainly reviews the academic research achievements and present status abouy Du Mu and poems of Du Mu.The first chapter also introduce the significance and purpose of the thesis topic, the general study situation and the research level of Connotations on Poetry Anthology of Fan Chuan both at home and abroad also. Body part of the thesis includes five parts, including the second chapter which deals with family history research of Feng Ji-wu and the source of the annotative thoughts about Connotations on Poetry Anthology of Fan Chuan. According to the family hereditary research of Feng we know that the family has writing tradition and the spirit which comes from the Confucianism of making a contrubutiong to the state and the people.These influences of his family deeply influenced his annotative thoughts. At the same time, the wind of the textual criticism in the period of QianLong and JiaQing also deeply affected the attitude of Feng, this pushed Feng focuse on how to use the historic materials for the textual research on the poems of Du Mu.The third chapter discusses the version, collating and annotation of Connotations on Poetry Anthology of Fan Chuan. By tracing the ancient bibliography records of Connotations on Poetry Anthology of Fan Chuan we can have a clear comb and clearing, then further analyze the the similarities and differences of different versions about the the collating and annotations.According to this,we can make it clear that the collating of Feng has it’s unique characteristics. The fourth chapter explores the Connotations on Poetry Anthology of Fan Chuan on collating and annotation, commented the advantages and disadvantages. Through the system analysis we know that the collating and annotation of feng has its own unique advantages but also have great shortages. The fifth chapter is an inductive demonstration of argumentation about the reference book which usede by Feng in the book Connotations on Poetry Anthology of Fan Chuan. According to the further investigation about the preciseness and scientificalness of the annotation, we can point out that Feng Ji-wu pays lots of attention to the historical background information about the poems of Du Mu. Chapter six overall evaluates the achievements of Connotations on Poetry Anthology of Fan Chuan. Reveals researches about the book can set a role for the research about the poems and articles of Tang Dynasty. We can also have a lesson in the annotation of Feng, which can teach modern people the significant attitudes towards how to inherit excellent traditional culture.The value of Connotations on Poetry Anthology of Fan Chuan mainly owing to the collating and annotation of the poems, and it’s the center and focal point of this paper. Research about its inherited family background and social prevailing custom of textual criticism thoughts; the characteristics of the textual criticism and comments; the advantages and disadvantages of Collating and annotating; the accuracy of the comments of poems and the art technique; the characteristics of using the annotation guide books, etc. Through the study of attitudes of Feng about the poems we can learn how to inherit ancient outstanding traditional cultures.It’s the innovation of the paper and a positive research.In addition, this article has considered and researched all the collations and annotations of The Interlinear Notes of Corpus ofDu Mu, Connotations on Poetry Anthology of Fan Chuan and all the collations and annotations of modern study. On the basis of predecessors’ collating and annotations, this paper has its own further textual criticism and annotations, mainly reflected in the study parts of collating and annotation.
