Revolt and pursuit, a common topic in every age, which are two inseparable words since the birth of human beings. In the Western literature of 19 th century, realism writers portrayed a group of the people who has a strong awareness of resistance and pursuit and never give up.Julien, Rastignac, Emma and Anna, all of them have shown a great courage to pursue and a strong energy of resistance in their short or long lives, yet for various reasons, their resistance has repeatedly encountered difficulties, which caused that their pursuit ended with tragedies. No matter they succeeded or failed, were praised or spurned, however, their passion, efforts and expectation for a better life have made a deep impression on us, which is worth learning from. Especially in our current society, where exists gradually widening wealth gap, increasingly solidified social classes, many young people live in the lower society, feeling powerless to resist and sense hopelessness of pursuit. They need an example to lead, but also need a lesson. Because of the seeker group, Julien, Rastignac, Emma and Anna, they can lead the confused young man after 1980, after 1990, from darkness to brightness. This article will draw a conclusion of inspiration for the current young people from the literary aesthetics, psychology, cultural studies, sociology and other multi-dimensional perspective, through careful analysis and comparison of four characters.In addition to the first chapter, this article includes three chapters and seven sections: in Chapter One, the seekers will be divided into two groups with detailed introduction; in Chapter Two, it summarize similar characters and situation of them, and analyze the difficulties and tragedies in their life; The chapter Three summarizes inspiration which can be given to young people in current society.
