As the impact of globalization increasingly deepens, China’s foreign trade of household appliance is growing continuously. Directions, as a part of export products, are a window for foreign customers to know Chinese electrical products. So the translation of directions plays an essential role in the product distributions. Skopostheorie, as the core of the western theory of functional translation school, has opened up a new perspective for the C-E translation of directions. Therefore, based on the analysis of linguistic characteristics of directions as a starting point, this paper respectively discusses linguistic characteristics with relevant examples in terms of vocabulary and syntax aspects. Under the guidance of skopostheorie, combined with specific criteria of three rules, including skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule, this paper chooses flexibly appropriate translation methods and explores the C-E translation aims of fidelity, objectivity, profession and conciseness in order to achieve the intended purpose in the target language environment. |
