This is an English to Chinese translation project report of Rising China:Power and Reassurance edited by Ron Huisken. It takes the part of the source text describing the transformation of the relationship between China and America as the object of case analysis, discussing the problems that have occurred during the translation and the translation strategies that have been adopted to deal with these problems. In the selection of translation theory and strategies, after deliberate consideration, the author chooses Newmark’s communicative translation and semantic translation as the guideline, paying attention to the rendering of source language to a more acceptable expression for target language readers. At the same time, strategies such as free translation, addition and adjusting the word order are adopted to make the translation clearer and more smooth. In the chapter of "Quality Control", the author illustrates the way of thinking and the use of translation strategies in the translation practice with some examples, giving an analysis of the source text and the target text in detail. At the end of this translation project, some conclusions can be drawn:First, making good use of translation theories and strategies contributes to a better translation effect. Second, genuine knowledge comes from practice. If the translator wants to get improved, he should practice more. Third, good preparation before translation is very important. Reading related materials does good to the understanding of the original text. Fourth, proper use of translation tools could help to ease the translation task and result in a better translation.
