Research Of Existence Status Of Folk Handicrafts In Longdong

A relatively ancient lifestyle is maintained in Longdong Region because of its unique geographic environment and relatively isolated traffic conditions to outside world. Folk handicrafts having disappeared or disappearing are protected and continued here. With very abundant types and distinct local characteristics, these handicrafts include shadow puppet sculpture, sachet, embroidery, paper cutting, dough modeling and ceramic art, which still play an important role in construction of local culture and economy nowadays. However, as times change, traditional handicraft industry in Longdong Region has also encountered contradictions in economic development, technological update, cultural change and other aspects during protection and development. As a result, the industry has been changed in existence circumstances, production, manufacture, forms, functions and other aspects. Mainly based on field investigation, the paper analyzes and researches historical development, artistic characteristics, existence state quo, development and change as well as other aspects of folk handicrafts in Longdong Region by research methods like literature method; and also conducts extensive field investigation and case research of paper cutting art, sachet art, shadow puppet sculpture art and dough modeling art. On this basis, the paper deeply discusses inheritance, protection and development of these folk handicrafts in Longdong Region; objectively summarizes empirical gain and loss of inheritance and protection of folk handicrafts in Longdong Region; and thinks about industrial development path of folk handicrafts in Longdong Region according to current existence circumstances, so as to provide certain reference and enlightenments for handicraft development in other areas.
