This paper is a translation project report on the book, Britain’s Gurkha War: The Invasion of Nepal 1814-1816, written by British Writer John Pemble. The project is launched by the Department of History from the Suzhou College of Science and Technology. The book narrates the Gurhka War, named the Anglo-Nepalese War as well, between the Great Britain and Nepal in the early 19 th century. In order to fasten the pace of Nepalese history research, the book has been translated as a significant source for study. The author’s target is to fully translate the content from page 202 to page 251 in which the chapters are entitled Stagnation in Sirmur, The collapse of the Eastern Offensives, and The Triumph of Ochterlony. The paper records the pre-translation preparation and the translation process, including the source text analysis, target language style analysis, project requirements, translation evaluation and case study. The translator draws a conclusion to the difficulties and questions after the project and systemizes the vocabulary and database for any possible similar source texts for the historic and documentary translation in the future.
