With the development of China’s economy, improvement of international status and deepening foreign exchanges, China witnesses a great influences of foreign publicity text translation on the development of economic prosperity as well as political power. The translation of Chinese government report is not only external publicity material, but also a media for other countries to understand the functions and culture of Chinese governments, so its translation will directly affect China’s international status, public image and diplomacy with its neighboring countries.Chinese Four-character Structure, with its distinct characteristics, is regarded as an important phenomenon of Chinese language. It shows symmetrical structure, vivid expression and rich cultural messages. However, Chinese and English language have huge difference, which make it hard to reproduce the sound, rhyme, structure and cultural message in English. Four-character Structures used in foreign publicity translation inevitably bring difficulties to translate in English. This paper discusses the translation of the report of the work of the Hunan Provincial Government 2014 based on Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory, putting forward translation strategies for four-character structure in Chinese political text.
