The View Of Ecological Study Of Lin Yutang

Lin Yutang’s literary works have transitional characteristics, namely the transition from human-based literature to ecological literature. In addition to supporting the May Fourth Movement "democracy," "scientific", in the same time Lin has reflected and transcended science, humanism, class struggle, the relationship between man and nature. It can be said that Lin’s works with ecological thought and worldwide vision. This thesis is divided into three parts:The first part discusses Lin Yutang and His works, whether in thought or in the internal status of Chinese modern literary history might have reflected the person’s literature to the ecological literature transition.First, reflect and beyond humanistic. Second, affirm science while opposing scientism.Then comb the history of ecological thinking in Chinese modern literature and the importance of Lin Yutang.The second part describes Lin Yutang’ecological view from three dimensions: natural thinking, social relationships,and culture. The natural dimension focuses on Lin’s awe of the natural world, as well as affirmation of the natural humanity and the equality of human and non-human life,also view of the tragedy of life that is floating dream-like;The social dimension elaborates Lin Yutang’s ecological practice of "moderate" and "approaching feeling", and outlines the ecologicalcharacterization of female images; The cultural dimension focuses on the efforts of Lin Yutang in integration of Chinese and Western, and explains his "pastoral" urban ecological concept.The third part, mainly explores the reasons of Lin Yutang’s ecological view from the perspective of Chinese and Western thoughts.First, in the lateral migration of Western culture, Lin mainly affected by the Christian culture, and his ecological thinking with Emerson,Thoreau might have a dialogue; The Chinese traditional culture, mainly explores from Confucianism and Taoism’s view for the natural world and for life,then find links with Lin Yutang. Lin Yutang’s natural ecological view mainly affected by Taoist concept of culture.Taoism culture makes the "Taoism" as a logical starting point, more concerning about natural ecosystems. Lin’s human ecological concept view mainly affected by Confucian culture, Confucian culture makes the individual as a logical starting point, approving the compassion of ecological ethical relationship, and more concerning about social-ecological systems.The conclusion of this paper will prospect Lin Yutang’s ecology concept from modern technological survival to the ecological survival.
