The Spread And Influence Of Zoroastrianism In Ancient Shanxi

The ancient Shanxi is a place that more than a minority and a variety of beliefs coexist. Due to the reasons such as business and war, a large number of Sogdians and Persians came to China and brought their religion Zoroastrianism at the same time. It advocates dualism between good and evil. People should refer to worship of fire and star if he wants to avoid evil from good, so the ancient Chinese called it "Zoroastrianism", "Fire Zoroastrianism", the god was "hu tian" god and "xian" god. As early as in the Sixteen countries period, Zoroastrianism had entered Shanxi Province. After the North dynasties, the Sui dynasty, the Tang dynasty, the Five dynasties, the Song dynasty and the Yuan dynasty, the Zoroastrianism culture and Chinese traditional culture collided and integrated with each other here. It made a profound impact on the society to Shanxi Province. This article attempts to sort out the unearthed culture relics in the recent years combined with historical data, to study the spread and communication of the Zoroastrianism culture in history,to summarize its impacts on the social culture of the ancient Shanxi Province.The structure of this paper is divided into five parts:The first part is the introduction. The purpose is to illustrate research significance, research situation and main content of this article.The second part mainly narrates the founding of Zoroastrianism, its development, the basic doctrines and the religious ritual.The third part expounds the early spread of Zoroastrianism in Shanxi. First, I will talk about the time,the communication subject and the transmission route of the Zoroastrianism that entered China. The second, analyze the historical documents and unearthed epitaph and tombs, to understand the spread of the preliminary conditions in Shanxi.The fourth part is talking about the rise and fall of Zoroastrianism in ancient Shanxi. We will discuss the spread situation of Zoroastrianism in Sui and Tang dynasties, Song and Yuan dynasties in Shanxi, and simply analyze the reasons of Zoroastrianism decay and death.The fifth part is about the influence of Zoroastrianism on ancient Shanxi society, respectively from the viewpoints of politics, economy and culture.The last section is a summary and overview of this paper.
