| This is a translation report on the attributive clauses in English legal literature. While translating the text, the reporter(also named the translator of this text) finds a great number of complex sentences, with so many cases that one clause is enclosed in another clause, forming complicated grammatical structures, thus causing great difficulties in legal English translation into Chinese not only in the demand for the translator’s considerable capability of the English reading comprehension but also in the requirement of the excellent Chinese expression skills so as to express the true meaning of the original text accurately.In this text, the translator decides to concentrate on the attributive clauses of the English complex sentences from the following aspects in order to do some research on the features as well as the translation methods of the attributive clauses in English legal literature. Firstly, the translator makes analysis on the different types and features of the attributive clauses in English Legal literature. Secondly, the translator makes explanation of the special functions of the attributive clauses in English Legal literature from the legal perspective. Thirdly, the translator concludes several effective translation methods according to the result of this practice, which are preposing, postposing, combination, translating into adverbial clauses as well as translating into independent sentences. Last but not least, the translator concludes some experiences and lessons learned in this translation practice as well as arranging the plans for the future. |
