For a daughter, her father is the first male figure in her life, who has a significant impact on her. Especially the influence that given by her father implicitly on her mate selection always emerges in daily life and is also commonly seen during the mental health conselling work. And it is also one of the most popular topics in relevant researches about father-daughter relationship. But the progress of this research is limited by designs and technique, a breakthrough is expected so that we can know the influencing mechanism deeply.According to the related theories and researches, the current research presumes that the daughter’s mate preference is potentially influenced by her image of father inside. The daughter has an ideal image of father inside, and she wants to experience all the ideal characters from her own real father, but usually the desire cannot be totally satisfied. So when she faces mate selection, her expectation of men will be influenced by the ideal characters she has experienced on different level from her father. It is to say, ideal characters been experienced on different level from father may have different importance in mate selection. In the research female college students are chosen as our subjects to ascertain and verify the hypothesis because they are in the stage of mate selection. Firstly, both the traits of female college students’ideal image of father and ideal boyfriend were collected, and then these two sets of traits were compared and merged as the young ladies’mate selection preferences. Secondly, all the subjects are asked to evaluate the degree to which they have experienced every ideal father traits from their real father, and mate preferences subjective assessment questionnaire and the information board technology are applied in this stage to measure their mate preferences both at the explicit and the implicit level. The result demonstrate that:(1) The female students obviously want to extend their fathers’good traits on their mate——both the explicit measure(the questionnaire) and implicit measure(the information board) results showed that the good traits the girls highly experienced from their father were thought to be more important and got more attention in the mate selection; (2) The implicit results also showed that in the mate selection, the girls give more attention to the good traits lowly experienced from their own real fathers on the unconscious level; (3) Different traits that subjects have experienced on different level have different effects on their mate selection; (4) Different from the subjective assessment, the information board technology can actually figure out the implicit mate preference. Along with the increasing complexity of the task, subjects are more likely to reveal their real attitude and desires.
