Ding Song Early Study Fine Arts Activity

Dingsong studied at the Zhouxiang scenery school in his eraly years and studied in fine arts school in his spare time, doing a lot of transitional and ground-breaking job for western painting enlightment about the art education and spread. In the early republic period, Dingsong was a representative arts teacher and commercial artist, having multiple identities: the dean of Shanghai College of Fine Arts, the western painting professor and exhibition organizer,examier,mass organization initiator, newspaper editor, director of drawitn and so on.Dingsong was always mentioned in modern and contemporary art works without details and systemic introduction and research, because of various reasons. This essay will analyze and arrage the historical data, and restore the early Dingsong arts activities as far as possible; What is more, the essay will analyze and evaluate the contribution and postion of Dingsong arts in the mordern fine arts history from the perspective of the modern shif for China arts, in order to draw the attention of education circles and inteligent department to the “eve artists”represented by Dingsong, so that their study is no longer a weak link of contemporary and mordern art history and the related arts resources can be protected, studied and reused.
