The competitive landscape of film industry has gone through dramatic changes in recent years due to the deepening of marketisation. Film sequelss as we all know has its natural advantages in terms of marketing and production processes hence occupying a key position amongst other products in the market. Film sequelss began its chapter quite late in China’s domestic market, even though it has achieved promising results in some aspects, however there are still remaining problems in marketing and production logistics, leaving a considerable space for improvement. All those need a sustainable solution in the foreseeable future. Having said that, current research into film sequelss are still weak and lacking of systemic method for analysis, therefore some of those contents are not able to serve as a good ground for future development of the vast industry.This report is aiming to research into film sequels industry in China in the context of modern society in order to explore its current status and problems facing. Hence, it is then possible to discuss any innovative strategies moving forward. First of all, the fundamental concepts are laid out; then followed by detailed SWOT analysis on film sequels industry in China from a macro-industrialisation perspective. Some conditions for innovative solutions are also discussed in this report, for example, market potentials, local culture resources, protective policies and experiences & learnings from Hollywood etc. After that, difficulties for innovation in the domestic market is also analysed, for instance, lack of new contents, lack of systemic planning, as well as a mismatch between market demand and innovative direction. Lastly, it is raised that internet mindset needs to be introduced to the film sequels industry in order to allow more comprehensive analysis into production mode and means of marketing.In summary, based on the fact of contents lacking and limited investment resources, the film sequels industry in China needs to leverage on the advantages of Internet and collaborate with trustworthy partners to bring in more technology, platforms and users into the framework. Only those innovative ideas could bring a sustainable future for the existing market in China...
