The book Fashion, Costume, Culture: Clothing, Headwear, Body Decoration and Footwear through the Ages is written by Sara Pendergast and Tom Pendergast. It gives a broad overview of costume traditions of diverse cultures from prehistoric times to the present day. With an interest in fashion and clothing as well as the curiosity about the European Culture, the translator group has translated the Volume 3 of this book. In this part, the author describes the clothing, headwear, body decoration and footwear from the fifteenth century to the nineteenth century as well as the culture background behind them. As a member of the group, the translator has translated the content of both seventeenth and eighteenth century, when Europe has witnessed enormous changes and so did the fashion styles of that period. This book gives a detailed description of various styles with a large amount of terms and many long and complex sentences, thus translating it was a really difficult task. However, all the team members have gained a lot during translation. In this report, the translator described her translation process, the problems she met and the correspondent solutions. Generally, it can be divided into four parts. They are task description, process description, case study and conclusion. Through this translation, the translator hopes to introduce the culture of fashion from European countries into China and to give some inspiration for the translation in this field. Besides, considering that the number of relative books is really small in China, the translation version of this book can enrich their leisure time. In addition, since more and more universities and colleges start to open fashion or clothing majors today, the translation version can also act as the teaching material or the material for their after-class reading.
