This report describes one interpreting task conducted by the author for the Beijing tour of National Thermal Power Corporation Limited of India and analyzes the typical cases during the tour to discuss common difficulties of interpreting as well as possible coping strategies and solutions.The report consists of five major parts: task description, procedure description, preparation for the task, case analyses and summary. Task description is a brief introduction of the interpreting practice, including the time, place, audience, and related information about this practice. Preparation for the task gives a detailed description of all the preparations from five perspectives. Case analyses are the core of this practice report. Reviewing the task process,the report divides interpretation into five aspects, each with a different focus and function,and presents the transcript of both the original speech and the author’s interpretation, from which typical examples are selected for further analysis from five perspectives. In addition,this report tries to find out the combination of theory and practice through the typical cases, in order to help readers understand interpretation more deeply, and apply the relevant experience into practice.
