With the rapid growth of the national economy of china and the urbanization level unceasing enhancement, and this has affected people’s increased demand for spiritual life, in turn, stimulates the development of tourism. Identification system as an important branch of landscape design must be bounded to receive the major stimulus and the development of tourism industry. In this context, this paper for the purpose of achieving the theory of the foothills region identification system combined with practice, This paper analyzes carding and summarizes the existing theoretical results of identification system by literature citation, field research, case studies and other research methods and builds a reasonable identifies system architecture for the study of the identification system in the foothills area.This thesis is divided into five chapters, the first chapter is an introduction starting with the research background, purpose and meaning, scoping study and research methods, ending up a clear focus and research scope of this study; The second chapter is the Section of summarizing theoretical study, elaborates the identification system design theory, multi-disciplinary background, while the compilation of relevant research data of identification system at home and abroad is the theoretical basis for research; The third chapter is the specific study of the identification system design on the foothills, defining the concept of foothills area identification system, while mining and exploring the geographical characteristics of this particular geographical foothills area, and organizing design methods and principles in the foothills area identification system,afterwards coming up with a reasonable planning design strategies; The fourth chapter is the analysis of the status quo and practice research, to identify problems and design deficiencies reality of its existence by doing the status research of Xi’an segment in Qinling north foothills, to do the actual operation show with the upper guide of constructing sign system architecture of the foothills region; The fifth chapter is dissertation conclusion, proposes the content outline and innovation of the paper, and the future system about construction of the foothills area identification system.This paper has presented three innovations. First, the concept of the foothills area identification system is coming up basing on the concept identify the system and determined by defining the scope of the region; Second, the foothills zone identification system is constructed for the three relations, namely macro(regional) level, meso(area) level and micro(specific spots) level respectively from the mountain relations perspective, the regional level and in particular the level of the foothills area attractions design; Third, for the linear Tour spatial characteristics, "3 + 1" site selection technique is proposed by focusing on the location selecting of identification system, and it is validated by practice.
