| There were many foreign businessmen and envoys in the southern region during the late Tang period. This article studies some foreigners and their activities at Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Hongzhou and Yangzhou.The first is the event of "Dashi and Persia sacked Guangzhou in Su Zong reign". The chapter thought that this incident was made by the local Hainan Island’s pirates. One of the reasons is there had a powerful local group which controlled a lot of Persians. Moreover, the time when Persians escaped from Guangzhou by the sea did not comply with the rules of the Indian Ocean’s monsoon. This event, to a certain extent, might promote the development of Jiaozhou.The second is the event of "Vijaya’s paying tribute to Tang Dynasty in the first year of Zhaozong reign".The tributary nation was not Sri Vijaya but Vijaya. The ambassador was not Pu He Li but Pu He Su. In addition,this paper analyzed the reason why they arrived in China by Fujian’s port.The third part studied foreign businessmen in Hongzhou and the city’s traffic status. Although Hongzhou was not a coastal port, it had prosperous land and water transporting network, developed ship building industry. So there were still many foreigners in this city where was an obviously important transferring station.The fourth part analyzed Yangzhou’s foreign businessmen. Yangzhou had become a developed city till the late Tang period where many foreigners gathered in. This chapter studied foreign businessmen, implements and medicine,in order to witness the internationalization of Yangzhou’s market. |
