| This report is based on the English-Chinese translation of the fifth and sixth chapter of Translation Today:Trends and Perspectives. This book is a conference proceeding containing all advanced theories from translation researchers. Translation theories, as a guide for practice, have been a focus of study introduced by quite a few scholars. In addition, masterpieces which involve much of the thought advanced by scholars of translation study is a useful tool for translation learners to have a more profound understanding of it.Peter Newmark’s theory can be used in this text. Based on the theory, this text is an informative text, so the communicative translation method is an appropriate choice. Considered of the different ways on words expression between Chinese and English, domesticating translation strategy is suitable to make readers understand the intention and context of the source text.Based on translating practice, the translating process has been summarized in this paper, and some translation strategies and techniques have been put forward aiming at the language features of the source text. The report consists of five parts. Chapter one is a description of the translation task. Chapter two is an introduction to the preparation before translation. Chapter three is the basic theories used in the text. Chapter four is the analysis of the translation strategies and techniques in translation. Chapter five is a summary of the reporter’s reflections on the translation practice. |
