| In the era of rapid development of science and technology, the development in this field in China has made great progress and achieved remarkable results.China has also increased its investment in the construction and development of the navy and has paid growing attention to it.We can not keep uninformed or do it all by ourselves, however, learning advanced foreign experience should be included in this process.Under the premise of ocean development, all countries in the world are paying increasing attention to environment protection. In such a background,China cannot take the old road of "pollution first, treatment later".The functional equivalence theory is used in this thesis to study the translation strategies of passive sentences based on the English translation text Final EIS for Naval Station Mayport. The characteristics of passive sentences in EST literature are founded, and the effective translation strategies of passive sentences that can improve efficiency are concluded:direct passive sentences and implicit passive sentences in Chinese,Chinese sentences of active voice and sentences with no subject. At the same time, the principle of "content first, form second"is followed when choosing corresponding translation methods.Through exploring translation strategies of passive sentences in English for science and technology, this thesis aims to improve the quality and efficiency of translation in EST literature and have reference value in future translation. |
