Different from other kinds of art, Chinese painting pays much more attention to mood, momentum and charm, and reflection of these characteristics depends on the combination of ink mix done, especially in landscape painting staggering. Space,texture, the actual situation, and the volume of the performance of the screen are often inseparable from the clever use of water, which makes it indispensable to the artistic conception of the landscape. Therefore, the creation of Chinese landscape painters often can not be done without water, which plays the same role as that of paint, paper and so on; In addition, it also has the same effect as that of pen and ink painting. Water in the landscape can be irreplaceable, it has a long history of use in the long history of landscape painting, and the usage also varies. Ancient and modern Chinese painters such as Shi Tao, Huang Binhong, Fu Baoshi, Li Keran, Huang Gesheng, Zhou Sicong, Tian Liming and so on have bold breakthrough in the water.Liu Haisu said: "Water acts as a medium between pen and ink, the use of water is more difficult than that of ink."This thesis based on the techniques and traditional painting theory referred to the landscape painting as the main focus by ancient and modern painters, analyze the relationship between ink and "water" in landscape painting and explore the use of water and its significance in Chinese landscape painting. At the end of this thesis, the cultural and religious spirit of water used in landscape painting is stated from a religious point of view.
