"Shi" sentence is one of the most common sentence patterns in modern Chinese. Its form and structure is not very complex, but Indonesians learning Chinese Mandarin often commit many errors in learning the said sentence structure. Therefore, this paper focuses on Indonesian Chinese learners as the research subject, with "shi" word as the main focus of the study. Based on the integrated use of comparative analysis theory and interlanguage theory and error analysis theory on Indonesian Chinese learning, the errors in learning "shi" were investigated. The paper, firstly examine the usage and overall characteristics of the "shi" verb in the Chinese language, comparison was then made with the Indonesian language equivalent "adalah", analysis was done to find their similarities and differences. Afterwards, the erroneous "shi" sentence made by Indonesian learners were taken from the Beijing Language and Culture University HSK dynamic composition corpus. Detailed error analysis was carried out and finally put some suggestions for teaching the "shi" sentence to Indonesian learning Chinese Mandarin.
