This research was done in able to cater better the Filipino Chinese learners. This research paper mainly focuses on the vocabulary words of the Chinese Mandarin instructional material entitled "Contemporary Chinese" or "Kontemporaryong Tsino" in Filipino language. The researcher uses his own practical experience in field of Filipino language and Chinese language teaching in evaluating the vocabulary words included in the said textbook. The evaluation was done through the following perspectives:a.) analysis of the quantity and distribution of vocabulary, b.) analysis of the level and distribution of vocabulary, c.) analysis in which part of speech vocabulary words are belonging, d.) comparison between the vocabulary of the textbooks and the vocabulary of HSK and lastly e.) analysis of the vocabulary’s exercises. Based on the discoveries of this research paper, the researcher will provide some suggestions on how to maximize the use of the said set of textbook.
