A Research On The Grammar Of Jian’ou Dialect

Jian’ou is located in the north of Fujian province. As one of the most previous exploited counties among surrounding areas, Jian’ou had played an crucial role in politics, economy, and culture prior to the Republic of China (1912-1949). As the development was going, however, Jian’ou dialect had got little advancement and even at present, some grammatical research and study about it still come to limitation. Given this, this paper is going to get some research on it. The paper goes for four subjects about the grammar in Jian’ou dialect---the verb aspects, negative words, interrogative expressions, and comparative expressions. Based on field investigation and further check on the materials, this paper is trying to find out something in common between Jian’ou dialect and other Fujian dialects and their own characteristics mainly by description and comparison. Then, This paper is expected to be able to offer some raw materials and direct facts to those who would go further study on Jian’ou dialect in the future.
