Research On The Six Fugues (op.17) Of Rimsky-Korsakov

Nikolay Andreyevich Rimsky—Korsakov was a famous Russian composer, educator and social activist in nineteenth Century. He serves as a member of the Russian force group, in all her life to make unremitting efforts to carry forward the national music, not only play a decisive role to the development of their professional music, also has the prominent contribution in the history of Western music.This paper takes the six Rimsky—Korsakov’s piano fugues (Op.17) as the research object, to explain how the composer will be full of personality in the theme through a series of polyphony development skills, in music practice gradually form the Fugue writing features unique to him, and through, the analysis and Research on his fugues, summed up its unique polyphony and the style characteristic.The main content of this thesis is divided into four chapters, the development history of fugue and the composer’s life experiences, study six fugues’structure characteristics, polyphonic creation techniques and works on the nation are summarized.There are four parts in my thesis. The first part is about the development of fugue and the brief introduction of the composer. This part is mainly about the forming proc ess of the Fugues and the introduction of the composer and creation of the music. The second part of the thesis studies the structures of the six chosen,Fugue analyzing and generalizing the characteristics of three constituents-exposition, development and re capitulation of fugues。The third part is a statement of the creating techniques of the polyphony and the application of these techniques. The last part is the summarization of the artistic characteristics of the works.
