A Research On Design Of Decorative Characters

The Chinese nation is born with the genes of indication and sensitiveness toward graphics.Decorative text is a kind of innovation built on this basis and combines with the requirement of aesthetics of the time.Starting with the font design of the twenty-four solar terms,this paper makes relevant probes into the decorativeness of text,It makes a systematic visual thinking connection between the phenomenon and the common concept of traditional definition of natural seasons,thus making decorative concept a positive visual advocacy in front design and giving more visual prospect to the correlation between the entirety and detail of fronts.The paper introduces the origin of the decorative text, the form of expression in ancient and modern times which expresses the fundamental rules of creation. Based on giving examples, making comparison and using quotations, this paper introduces decorative character’s creative process from some aspects like the way of thinking, the structure of the character and the way of expressing. And the related discussion about space factor exists the zhe text’s influence in this paper. Finally it elaborates on the creating practice of the front design of the twenty-four solar terms and finds out the visual regularity of modern decoratve text, and then summarize the design methodology and create a practice plan. And as for the further thinking about the future of the decorative text temperament, we will face the new challenges.
