The proverb is a kind of language created by the common people. It can express the plentiful cultural meanings such as folk wisdom and thought by concise form. Proverbs are the important material of language and cultural research. We can not only understand the expression habit of a country and a nation through the proverb, but also can deeply understand the culture and the consciousness of a nation. As "Cattle" and "horse" are domesticated for the longest time and have the most closely relationship with human traditional social life, they became the important source materials. This thesis made a semantic comparison respectively of Korean and Chinese proverbs related to cattle and horse.This thesis is divided into four chapters:the first chapter is the introduction part concluding the purpose, the previous research, the research scope and method. The second chapter made a comparison about Korean and Chinese proverbs related to cattle through the simple and deep significances, and the cultural meaning. The third chapter made a comparison about Korean and Chinese proverbs related to horse through the simple and deep significances, and the cultural meaning. The fourth chapter is the conclusion part.Although the images of Korean and Chinese "cattle", "horse" show many kinds of significances, but because of the differences of geographical environment and social development, the significances show differences between Korean and Chinese. Proverbs comparison between Korean and Chinese related to cattle is separated by words and behaviors, moral characters, interpersonal relationships and life attitudes, proverbs research between Korean and Chinese related to horse is separated by words and behaviors, interpersonal relationships, life attitudes and education. By the influences of Chinese schools of thought and afferent, the Korean culture has similarities with Chinese culture. However, these two countries also have their own cultural characteristics.Hope to help Korean and Chinese learners fully understanding the expression habits and cultural meanings about consciousness and thought of the two countries’s people.
