| Chinese painting, as an art with numerous varieties, can be categorized into landscape painting, figure painting, flower-and-bird painting, etc with the changing times. Each category is equipped with its unique artistic charm. Vitality is infused by various artists in the development of each category. While artists carry out recreation on the basis of inheriting traditional culture. This thesis performs a further study on the flower-and-bird painting art of Ren Bonian grounding on the traditional painting art, which specifically speaking is to be elaborated from the perspectives of brush and ink, composition, color application and so on.Large numbers of art works are composed by Ren Bonian during his lifetime. What did he do from1840to1896was to learn first, and then gradually try to make his works come to maturity by continually practicing his own art and proceeding with changes and innovations. Most of his art works, varying from traditional Chinese realistic painting Shuanggou to Mo-Gu freehand brushwork (one of techniques in Chinese painting) and moving from white paper colored drawing to Fenglachien paper gold sketch can be titled as boutiques. The creatures drawn by him are extremely vivid and close to daily life. Furthermore, what make people amazed are the wide ranges of themes in his painting. It is his careful observation of life that makes him render so many masterpieces with ease. He is a pioneer in creating new trend in the art circle, including but not limited to being fresh and elegant, beautifully colored, incomparably ethereal, flexible and pleasant. Though his accomplishments fail to be recognized by all artists, the attempts in Chinese traditional arts made by him cannot be denied. It is supposed to say that all attempts made by him can withstand comments and the values of artworks can be better manifested only when such artworks stand the test of time.This thesis elucidates the process experienced by the author during the course of learning from Ren Bonian from the following aspects:copying phase, attempting to achieve a harmonious blend phase and creation phase. What’s more, Ren Bonian’s and the author’s own works are to be analyzed respectively in this thesis. It’s the writer’s sincere expectation to make constant progresses by incessantly learning and comparing, finding problems and then resolving them. |
