Since ancient time navigation is an important part in the development of human society. Documents that related to maritime contribute a lot to our nation’s marine transportation, marine environment protection and other aspects. Recently the rapid development of shipping industry makes it necessary to use documents for reference. However the translation quality of those marine environment documents is not all satisfying.Since the marine environment documents include terms of conventions, there is a high requirement of preciseness. As a result, subordinate clauses, including attributive clauses, noun clauses and adverbial clauses, which are used in the documents to enhance precision showing high frequency. The author emphasizes on analyzing the characteristics of the attributive clauses, noun clauses and adverbial clauses in the marine environment documents, and referring to Eugene Nida’s translation theory of "functional equivalence" to study the proper translation methods. And the author also elaborates the way of applying appropriate translation methods to ensure the accuracy of the translation of marine environment documents.
