There are some differences on the principles of Politeness Language between China and Anglo-Saxon countries. These differences are easily reflected in daily life conversation. Chinese-English language scholars and experts set their own definitions on politeness, but still there are some differences in their views. This thesis will do a series of investigations and analysis in order to show how these Chinese-English polite language forms manifest themselves. The survey is targeted to Anglo-Saxons living in China, and its purpose is to understand the importance and awareness of Chinese polite language to Anglo-Saxons. The research methods and analyses will employ the Adjusted Rate of Perceived Impoliteness (ARPI) and the Rate of Usage (RU) of polite language forms. According to the results of the analyses and discussions, it can be determined how Anglo-Saxon polite language and cultural leads to cultural conflict and to what extent, and further adopt or adjust the teaching methods Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages.
