Since the famous history book of the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle was published, it isalmost referred to as an important referenced literature about the history in the periodof the Middle Ages. There has been none general opinion about the Anglo-SaxonChronicle whatever a monograph or thesis as yet. According to the author’s reading, itwas that only Mr. Qi Guogan appraised this book in the preliminary remarks of theAnglo-Saxon Chronicle in our country. The book was only used for a literature not asan object of the history book to analysis. So there is a huge space to progress thecommentary of this book.In this thesis, it is started from three views. The first is the majesty problem; thesecond is religious issues; the third is appraised the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle. It wasemphasized the political and religionary contents in the book. The analysis focused onthe historic environment at that time, as well as the impact of historical environment onthe UK.This paper is made up of three parts. The first part is the prolegomenon, thesecond part is the main text and the third part is the conclusion.The first of this thesis is the prolegomenon. It includes the status of the research andthe narrative about the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle at the present day.The second part is the main text. There are three chapters in this part. The secondpart of the thesis mostly arguments the majesty and a relative position in the societythrough discussing the political contents of the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle. The third partis mainly about the religionary problem in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle. First of all, it isexpounded the introduction of religion in the early time, and then expatiated thereasons for the faith of Christianity, in the last discussed the religion extensiveprevalence in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle. The fourth part of the thesis is appraised thisbook in the view of Historical Theory Evaluation.The third part is the conclusion. It is mainly about summarizations and arguments ofthis thesis.
