Letters are a carrier of cultural transmission. The mixed uses of multilingual letters hasbeen inevitable. However, letter design makes letters more than a carrier of information.When applying a well-designed letter, we are actually reading both its content and form.Nowadays in many cities, applying a particular letter is one of ways of transferring urbancharacteristics, both building the city’s image and influencing the pleasantness of people’s lifeand convenience of travelers.The thesis is a summary of the design of Latin letters with Yan Elegance, a stylemix-used with Yan Zhenqing’s regular script. Through analyzing the characteristics andaesthetics of Yan Zhenqing’s regular script and calligraphic art of Latin letters, the thesisdiscusses the relationship of calligraphy and print and compares the calligraphic art of Latinletters and Chinese calligraphic art. The thesis manages to bestow the strokes of Latin letterswith the power of charm of Yan Zhenqing’s regular script, integrates the poetry of Chinesecalligraphic art while maintaining the characteristics of Latin letters and pursues newapproaches of shape-designing of Latin letters.
