The causative sentence of the intransitive verb is an important expression of Japanese, and it has somethingin common with the causative-transitive sentence in expressing causative mood. The intricate relationship between the causative sentence of the intransitive verb and the causative-transitive sentence makes it difficultfor Japanese L2learners to understand and distinguish these two constructions. The aim of this paper is to provide an effective method and theoretical basis for Japanese L2learners to correctly understand and distinguish these two constructions. This paper analyzed these two constructions, and compared the causative sentence of the intransitive verb with the causative-transitive sentence. Bydiscussing the differences between the two constructions in expressing causative mood, the paper further summed up the necessary condition for employing the two constructions.Through discussions and analysis, this paper reached the following conclusions:if the subject directly caused the object state changes, the causative-transitive sentences should be used to express causative mood; on the contrary, if the subject indirectly caused the object state changes, the causative sentence of the intransitive verb should be used to express causative mood. Moreover, if an actor spends great effort or takes special measures to complete the action, it would be natural to express causative by the causative sentence of the intransitive verb.Furthermore, this paper also discussed vocabulary ending with "su". As a result,"su"should be regarded as causative auxiliary verb of the old saying Japanese."Su" type of vocabulary which is accepted by Japanese Mandarin dictionary as transitive verbs, should be treated as same as causative verbs of modern Japanese. Consequently, we should determine the property of "Su" type of vocabulary, in accordance with its original meaning of the verb, the nature of the object and context of sentences.
