Currently, AP program is developing fast in China, and AP courses, offered in private or public high schools, are increasing. Meanwhile, the Chinese AP program (CAP), partly launched in2014, witnesses a great demand for the reference books and study aids catering to the educators and the students. However, relevant research on geography textbook translation is rather limited.Based on the translation practice of AP Human Geography textbook, the thesis fulfills a research on the translation problems, including the extraction and translation of terms as well as the translation of passive voice sentences and long sentences, with the guidance of functional equivalence principle and the help of computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools. The thesis presents the methods and processes of terminology extraction and translation, and makes some suggestions on the specific strategies and technical problems. Also, the thesis analyses some common types of the passive voice sentences and long sentences in the geography textbook, and systematically elaborates the translation methods and skills on these sentences.
