Practice Report On Consecutive Interpretation-based On Mapping The Future Of Networks

Nowadays, talk show has become more and more popular as a televisionprogramming. In western countries, the influence of talk show is growingday-by-day, talk shows already grown into a unique culture. We should take thisopportunity as a key to open the door of western countries and to have betterunderstanding of western society, politics, economy and culture. In china, after thesuccess of TV program Tell It Like It Is which aired by CCTV in the mid-90s talkshow became prevalent throughout the whole China. Many TV stations put forwardtheir own talk show, thus bring China into a new age of Talk show. However, peopleare not attaching enough importance to English interview translation. Therefore,during the process practical interpreting of Mapping the Future of Networks, theauthor integrates some interpretation related skills that learned by author at school inorder to provide some practical material for the further English interviewinterpretation as example or reference.This paper is a practical report of consecutive interpretation based on a videointerview. The author plays a role as consecutive interpreter during this simulationinterview. The research object of this practice is the interpreting process and result ofthe interview. After simulation consecutive interpretation, the author collated sourcetext and the translation of consecutive interpretation according to the video andrecordings. Then discuss the problems and difficulties occurs during the process ofconsecutive interpretation, figure out related solutions and coping skills as well, soas to enhance the quality of consecutive interpretation in the coming future. This paper consists of four chapters. The first chapter introduces thebackground information and significance of the task, as well as the demand ofinterpreters in the task. The second chapter is about the description of preparationsbefore Interpreting, quality assessment method and comments on the interpreting.The third chapter lists three translation skills that the author applied while doing thistask. In this chapter relevant analysis for problems and difficulties that emergedduring the process have also been proposed.
