Cultural Ecology Study On Guanzhong Folk Crafts

Cultural ecology is the study of culture adaptations to given or changing social andphysical environments and the production, development and variation of culture via theinteraction among all the elements of natural and cultural environment, which pays attention tostudy the close dynamic relationship among human, nature and social, and stress theinterdependency between culture and its corresponding ecological environment. It’s a newmethod of applying cultural ecology to art field, which complies with the inner need ofdevelopment of folk art discipline and meets with the general trend of interdiscipline betweenart and science. Based on this point, this paper used the integral and systematic theory andmethod and took the relationship of nature-human-social to analyze the relationship betweenGuanzhong folk art and its cultural background with method of field research, textinterpretation and psychoanalysis and theory on anthropology of art and folklore. This paperdiscussed the law of production and development and the representation of aesthetical features.At first, the pictures taken in field research was sorted out and classified so that to learnabout the origin, developing history, distribution, scale and category of Guanzhong folk crafts,analyzed their artistic characteristics, and tried to find out the relationship between Guanzhongfolk crafts and the cultural ecology environment.Then, the cultural ecology features were analyzed from the angles of traditional cultureand territorial culture. Agriculture culture and Confucian culture were closely related withlifestyle, customs, and folk religion and so on. And they were always in a dynamic balance.Natural ecology was the invisible background of cultural ecology, so analyzing the naturalecology was very necessary.Thirdly, the inner discipline of production and developing of Guanzhong folk crafts wasdiscussed. The “culture feeling” formed in the process of facing with the objective worldinfluenced the art creation; the aesthetical features of folk art produced in daily life was affectedby its practical need and its economy function; folk crafts was loaded with rich spiritualcontents, at the same time, it had its independent artistic value; folk crafts had its obvious socialfunction which required crafts to develop in a corresponding way. At last, the developing trend of Guanzhong folk crafts was analyzed. The original dynamicbalance had been broken in the process of urbanization and industrialization. Sustainabledevelopmental space and spiritual soil should be found in the new ecological environmentwhich was being changed day by day. It was important and necessary that we should pay moreattention to folk arts themselves except for taking effective protective measures to find a path ofsustainable development.
