Japanese loanwords, generally refers to relatively new words originating in Western language, the Chinese words anciently brought to Japan are not included. Statistics have shown that the proportion of modern Japanese loanwords has reached10%, of which more than90%are from English. The special presence of Japanese loanwords originating in English raises the attention of researchers in various fields. Numerous achievements have come out and most of them are about linguistic studies. When it comes to the historical research, the majority of Chinese and Japanese researchers have regarded Japanese loanwords as a whole, without separating English origin. They classified the history of the loanwords according to their own standards and gave each period a general summary. That is why nowadays we can only find few materials which can show a very clear trail of Japanese loanwords originating in English, especially from the perspective of non-linguistic research. This article will conduct a new study to solve the problem mentioned on the basis of the great quantity of previous studies. Taking Japanese loanwords originating in English as the only object, this thesis uses historical analysis to make the process clearer:When did it come into Japanese system? How did it top the proportion list? By this we can expect a more accurate and reliable grasp of loanwords coming from English. In addition, the author hopes the results of this study can be used in the later study and teaching of Japanese Loanwords. This thesis consists of three parts:introduction part, body part (chapterl,2,3,4) and the conclusion part.
