It is rooted in the traditional opera, similar to montage in films, and committed to audience feelings. Obviously, what "Opera montage" cares is the spread from stage performances to audiences. It is used to guide playwrights and find new ways to write and direct plays. By analyzing stage performances of Chinese traditional opera by examples, Opera montage is divided into three categories:narrative montage, expressive montage and intellectual montage. Choosing ways to build stories, doing rhetoric on stage and keeping rational to performances are jobs for the three. The montage is rich in content and potential on stage. Meanwhile it has got a further exploration on opera films and TV plays that had Opera montage get more creative with media methods. As a result, narrative montage is meticulously elaborated and expressive montage gets many more ways to chose. However, those attempts has montage insensibly lose chances of further development as creators has never got a deep understanding of audio-visual language and tools of media in a tentative admixture of Chinese traditional opera and video. Based all this, the paper try gallantly to put forward some recommendation for the sake of more cognition in audio-visual language and more ways of opera creation. Accordingly writers and directors will broaden their mind to do more creative jobs of opera with superiorities of Opera montage.
