Research On Modern Adaptative Update Of Historical And Cultural Towns In Chengdu

Located in the land of abundance in Western Sichuan plain,25famous historicaland cultural towns in Chengdu constitute a regional groups, which can be referred to as"Tianfu town". It is an important part of ancient Bashu towns, which reflects theregional, national, economic and social development of settlement formation andevolution of the historical process. Historical and cultural towns are also the truerecord of the traditional architectural style, outstanding architectural art, traditionalcustoms and the original space form. The protection of the ancient towns also protectsthe cultural foundation of the land of abundance. However, with the process ofcontinuous advance of Chengdu new towns, much of the damage to the protection andrenewal of the historic and cultural town’s appeal, at the same time, residents in thetown has also undergone tremendous change in lifestyle. Therefore, historical andcultural towns with its inherent growth pattern, has gradually become pursuit of modernlife’s obstacles.Understanding the current situation with the residents and town developmentneeds of modern life, we can find the source of the problem. In the period of rapidurbanization, a large number of urban construction, tourism development and theoccurrence of natural disasters on the town have caused irreversible damage to theancient town. Meanwhile, the external environment upheaval spawned new demand onmaterial, residents in the town of social, economic and other aspects of the history andculture towns, which shows inappropriate phenomenon. Therefore, based on theprotection of historical and cultural towns, how to introduce holistic "Living Culture"concept of heritage protection and adaptation concept, put forward a strategy ofprotection updates with guidance and practical in nature, is the focus of this paper.The thesis consists of four parts. The first part describes the research backgroundand theories, concepts. The second part summarizes the characteristic, current situation and problem of Chengdu historical and cultural towns. The third part isthe core part of this article, introduces the basis, principle and purpose of modernadaptive update, summaries a set of modern adaptive updating method, and appliesthe theory to a practice. The last part, Summary the paper and Indicate the futurefocus of research direction.
