The Russian composer Sergei Ivanovich Taneyev made an adaptation of a piano solo, according to Tchaikovsky’s suite "Nutcracker" orchestral. This set of piano suite, which includes eight independent musical opusculum, has its unique layout in tonal configuration, speed strength and musical form structure. This paper, through the analysis of the structure and the writing background, makes effort to summarize four main characteristics of creation from the piano suite "The Nutcracker"--Symphonic, diversity, ethnic and lyric. Also, this paper makes some explorations in the tone of the grasp, rational use of pedal and fingering, and playing method. Finally, it ends up with a new interpretation of the "Nutcracker" from different respects.This paper makes research of the work from five parts. The introduction mainly discusses the background, purpose and significance of choosing the subject. The first chapter makes summarization for the composition of piano suite of "The Nutcracker"; the second chapter makes a particular and thorough analysis from the characteristics of composition; third chapter attempts to find a solution to the work performance and practice method; at last, some ideas and thoughts of the author are put forward. The article was meant to make a full and deep discussion through the creation features of the piano suite "The Nutcracker", and provides some theoretical reference for performers to make a full and profound understanding of the essence of piano suite "The Nutcracker".
