Huang Kehui, who styled himself as "Kongzhao" and was also known as"Wuye", was a poet in Huian,Fujian, in the middle and the late Ming Dynasty. The subjects and styles reflected in his poems are rich and colorful, which have secured a place in the history of Fujian literature and have exerted phenomenal influence on Minnan poetry world. However, few scholars pay attention to Huang Kehui, not to mention aesthetic values of his poems. Given that there are few studies on Huang Kehui’s poems, this thesis focuses on the five volumes from Anthology of Mr. Huang Kehui, referencing Qingyuan Literature, Quanzhou Prefecture Records, Huian County Records, Genealogy of Huang Family, and so on. The main methodologies in this thesis are text comprehension and empirical studies by doing textual research into Huang’s life, family background, works, and his friends, as well as analyzing the themes and aesthetic styles showed by his poems. Based on this research, the thesis tries to present a panorama of Huang and his poems within specific historical and geographical environment and makes objective evaluation of his position in the Fujian poetry world in Ming Dynasty.
