Artistic Characteristic Of The Architectural Woodcarving In Ganlu Precept Of Quanzhou Kaiyuan Temple

Using the architectural woodcarving of Ganlu precept hall in Kaiyuan temple of Quanzhou as the main research subject, this article demonstrates the artistic form and feature of the woodcarving, as well as its aesthetic value and humanistic value, from the point of aesthetic view.The article firstly introduces the historical development and architectural style of Ganlu precept hall, along with the impacts brings by the natural environment and social culture of Quanzhou. Then the author analyzes the humanistic connotation that contained within these architectural woodcarving through a field investigation in Ganlu precept hall. Third, this article discusses the artistic form and feature of Ganlu precept hall from three aspects (model, form and color) by analyzing its woodcarving work. At last, it interprets the aesthetic value of Ganlu precept hall, and studies the architectural woodcarving of this hall with a combined rule of rhythm, balance and transformation, then analyzed its composition form, general layout and color language from the point of aesthetic view, so as to the understanding of artistic characteristics and humanistic connotation of the architectural woodcarving in Ganlu precept temple.
