Modal adverbs are the hotspot of the research in Chinese linguisticcircle, and also the difficulties of foreign Chinese teaching. Modal adverbs,with the virtual meaning of words, flexible collocation and more synonyms,are parts of relative function words in Chinese language, but because of itsexclusive character in terms of expression mood, which determine theextremely important position of modal adverbs in Chinese linguisticperformance. Because of its virtual semantics and more synonyms of modaladverbs, to many students who take Vietnamese as mother tongue, it is hardto avoid the errors on understanding and application. There are greatdifficulties for learners to master modal adverbs, so that it is particularlyimportant to differentiate and analyze this kind of words in teaching. Takenotice of these problems, make understand to general situation of Chinese,for sampling survey study and filtrate and compare to white this theseswhich the Vietnamese learners acquisition of modal adverbs fromperspective of second language acquisition. This study selected16groupsof close modal adverbs in the <The Graded Chinese Syllables, Charactersand Words for the Application of Teaching Chinese to the Speakers of OtherLanguages> By means of questionnaire survey, compiles statistics based onthe results, understand how Vietnamese learners mastering modal adverbs.According to the investigative results and word usage, analyzing the reasonswhy Vietnamese learners occur to these errors in learning process andpropose the suggestion for teaching. The thesis is divided into five parts: Part One, take <The GradedChinese Syllables, Characters and Words for the Application of TeachingChinese to the Speakers of Other Languages> as research guide, researchingauthority data, designate the sixteen groups synonymous modal adverbs(Total35words) from survey sample as fetching words range, and confirmand illustrate the research thought and method. In addition, we also proceedcomprehensive description for the research achievement of modal adverbswritten by predecessors. Part Two, by means of research achievement ofChinese teaching and linguistic performance domestic and overseas, forecastthe errors which may be occurred for Vietnamese learners in the process ofstudying to apply Chinese synonymous modal adverbs, design aquestionnaire aimed to middle and high ranking learners, and apply statisticmethod to make preliminary discussion, get an acquisition circumstance.Part Three, according to the statistic of survey result, apply the languagecontrast analysis theory to deeply study the different phenomenon of rightand error, which occurred by learners. So that find the root of problems, thendescribe and classify. Part Four, through the third part research,comprehensively conclude the reason why Vietnamese learners make errorson Chinese synonymous modal adverbs, and reached the conclusion thatmain reasons of these errors are caused by interlingual error of mothertongue and intralingual error affected by target language. Part Five, teachingprinciple of synonym: reduce paraphrasing, strengthen comparison and theangle of cultivating language sense, propose the teaching suggestion aimedto Vietnamese learners who study Chinese synonymous modal adverbs.
