A Preliminary Research On Chinese Museum Documentaries

The museum is a cultural communication, it takes the responsibility to pass onculture and carry forward the civilization. With the development of the cause of themuseum and the progress of modern science and technology, the museum sendmessage to audience through documentaries, it becomes possible that people can getin touch with museums through TV and the Internet everywhere. In recent years, thereare a series of excellent museum documentaries such as The Imperial Place, TheForbidden City100, The Palace Museum in Taipei, National Museum of China100Years.Museums and TV stations have increasingly closer cooperation in the process ofproducing and spreading museum documentaries. There are many documentariesproduced by museums and TV stations, such as The Imperial Place, The ForbiddenCity100,The Palace Museum at Taipei, National Museum of China100Years.At present, researches on museum documentaries are almost done by people inmedia area in article view and mainly focus on The Imperial Place, The ForbiddenCity100and The Palace Museum at Taipei. However, no research in this area hasbeen done in museology yet.So, I comment on weighted Chinese museum documentaries in museology. Inaddition, it is discussed that the relationship between museum documentaries and themedia such as the communication channels of museum documentaries, thecorporation with TV stations. Some practicable plans are given about middle andsmall size museums’ documentaries and proposals are thrown out that the feedbackplatform should be established. I hope I can fill the gap in research about museumdocumentaries in museology. Because of the lack of information and my limitedcapacity, some of my ideas seem to be naive. I really hope I can get experts’ advices.
