Up to2014,471Confucius Institutes and730Confucius Classrooms have been settled in125countries (or regions), which have attracted lots of local learners. Due to the uniqueness of Confucius Institutes and its participants, more attention should be paid to the phonetics in class. Nevertheless, one of the characteristics of Chinese teachers in Institutes is the great mobility. As a result, most of them are not familiar to such practice of phonetics. Considering the fact that related studies are rarely seen, one of the urgent issues is to analyze what content to focus on, what targets to approach and how to practice in class. In this thesis, the subject is the phonetic practice for beginners in Confucius Institutes, taking one of the "elementary A" class in the Confucius Institute-Sapienza University of Rome as an example, for the purpose of setting a mode for reference, namely, the mode of module assembly of practice on Chinese phonetics. This course consists of50hours, of which32hours is for practice session.11students are in this class. This thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter describes the background of this thesis, other related theses, as well as the research thought and detailed methods. The second chapter analyzes the actual facts of one of the "elementary A" class in the Confucius Institute-Sapienza University of Rome, based on which the basic concepts of the mode of module assembly are proposed, that is, to make the lessons practical, effective and fascinating through rational standard, optimized materials and various forms. The third chapter discusses the specific process of this mode. After setting targets and selecting contents and forms, certain modules are made and shown in tabular forms, all in three phrases. What’s more, this chapter also illustrates the process with two cases in detail. The fourth chapter analyzes the effects, with11copies of results of final exams (both written and oral exams) and6copies of interview answers. The evaluation shows that this mode is overall satisfying though still needs adjustments partially, which basically affirms the mode of module assembly. At last, this thesis summarizes the research results, and describes both advantages and disadvantages of the mode of module assembly on practice of Chinese phonetics in the implementation process.
