The Relations Between Female Body Aesthetic And Clothing Of Tang Dynasty

Body concept is one of the most popular topics of social sciences and humanitiesin the21century. This paper will combined literature and archaeological objects tostudy the project. We will use documents, mural painting in tomb chambered andFemale figurines in Tang Dynasty as research materials, from perspective of bodyaesthetic, to analysis the relationship between body aesthetic and clothing. First wewill discuss the female body aesthetic of Tang Dynasty, then combining with theunearthed material, using time as links, to annals the female body aesthetics andclothing in three different period of the whole tang dynasty.In early tang dynasty, the female body is long and slim, the popular stripe skirtfeet the body well. Period of925AD is a very important changing period for femaleaesthetic women’s shoulder line become hard because of the hard within half sleeve.And the women’s upper body plump up first. The women’s body become fatter andfatter, the clothing become wider and longer. The female bodies in painting alwayschange faster than the female figurines. The three-color female figurines from Louyang region is always slimmer the it from xi’an area. Therefore, the female bodyaesthetics in tang dynasty chant from slim to full and round because there are more fatand round noblewoman in guanzhong region.
