More and more short-term Chinese language programs to oversea students have been launched in Chinese mainland. Middlebury’s Language School and Princeton in Beijing are representative short term Chinese study programs. Central China Normal University launched the short-term Chinese language program with Memphis University (which is referred to CCNU-UM)in June,2014. This thesis is based on the case study of this program.The detailed information of CCNU-Memphis program is described in Chapter 2,including the description of the teaching objectives, teachers, students, textbooks, teaching schedule and evaluation. Students vary in their Chinese language levels with different majors. And there is a unique system about the selection and training of teachers.The comparisons of mode of Middlebury’s language schools and CIB program, PIB program, task-oriented teaching mode with CCNU program are discussed in chapter 3. And the suggestions about how to improve CCNU program are made based on the special feature of the programs discussed.The enlightenment and meaning of this program are analyzed in chapter 4, which includes the obvious improvement of students’listening and speaking skills and the inspiration about teachers’training and teaching and so on.The innovation of this thesis and future work are concluded in chapter 5.
