This is a translation practice report, mainly focusing on the second chapter of The Wine Bible. In this report, the wine-related terms in the book are selected to be analyzed and studied so as to improve the translation quality and efficiency of the wine-related books. This report is based on the second chapter of The Wine Bible, which is written by Karen McNeil, a famous American wine taster. This book, generally viewed as an encyclopedia of wine, is characterized by its vivid language and rich contents, and is suitable for people of all ages.Firstly, the whole translation practice is introduced by means of introducing the basic information of the practice, the text, the author and the translation principles of the wine-related terms. Then the translation process is divided into preparation, translation process and proofreading, and each process is described. By analyzing the text and the wine-related terms, the author can have a further understanding of the text so that the text and language features can be clearly located in the translation and proofreading process. Next, the wine-related terms are classified from the perspective of word-formation, which aims at discussing and analyzing the translation methods of the wine-related terms. On the basis of the translation principles, the text features and the features of the wine-related terms, the translation methods of the compound terms, the abbreviated terms, the borrowed terms, the transformation terms and the derivative terms are systematically raised. The translation methods as the literal translation, literal translation with notes and transliteration are mainly used. Meanwhile, the semantic translation is also used. Lastly, the translation practice report is concluded, and the translation experience and problems are put forward.Through the task description and analysis, it is found that solid knowledge of the bilingual language and flexible translation skills are requisite skills for the completion of a high quality translation.
