Academic procrastination is a common phenomenon in the university campus, which has important effect on students’academic achievement. In the present study, we conducted focus group and depth interview with university students (N=20). Following the standard procedure of grounded, interview date was analyzed with Nvivo 10.0 and identifying 39 initial categories and 25 themes. A 5-component paradigm model is settled down with the analysis of these dates, which includes cause of academic procrastination (i.e., self, task), the context (i.e., deadline, reward system, internet), the coping strategies, consequences (i.e., academic achieve, psychological state). Finally, we proposed four general principles about academic procrastination: "paper system"; academic procrastination as a short-term emotion regulation strategy; misuse of Internet; self-forgiveness. Limitations of research are discussed, as well as implications for future study to test the result obtained from the present study.
