Research On The Shi Zhecun’s Theory Of Cultural Personality

Zhecun Shi is a special writer in the history of Chinese contemporary literature. He has made great achievement in a lot of fields including literature, translation of foreign literature, study of classic literature, organization of stone rubbings and teaching. He was particularly well known for his fiction creation and was called the master of “New Sensationalism”. Study on his works has been increasing, especially during the 90 s when there once was a hit. There were lots of articles memorizing him published on different journals after his death in 2003. Although there are many papers reporting works of his fiction and translation of foreign literature during the past years, reports about his study on classical literature and stone rubbings are relatively less. Shi underwent lots of tough times in his life, but his persistence made it possible for him to make great achievements through all these difficulties. However, there are few papers reporting this. He is well known for being the one who creates a new writing fashion and devoted himself to new literature creation and editing since he was at a young age. He made a lot of contribution to translation of foreign literature and study of stone rubbings after 30 s, besides which he also spent his time in writing prose and essays, study and teaching of classical literature. Of note, he suffered a lot of bias and misunderstanding in the field of literature after his argue with Xun Lu and was attacked during the “Big revolution”. Living through the twenty century, he accepted the transition of time, culture and system of the society, actively or passively. Study of what kind of difficulties he suffered, how he survived from it and how he made achievements during the ups and downs in life will be valuable and represent the road to success being taken by most Chinese intellectuals living in twentieth century.This study will focus on how Shi survived and made great achievements through all the difficulties during his literature career. A comprehensive understanding of Shi will be achieved through this study instead of only studying his contribution to literature. Three parts are included in this article: introduction, main article and discussion.A general view on study of Shi will be given and the significance and novelty will be addressed in the introduction.There will be three chapters in the main article:Chapter 1: analyze the difficulties Shi suffered and the strategy he chose to survive during the four periods of his life: before the founding of People’s Republic of China(PRC for short), early after founding of PRC, “Anti-rightist” and “Big Revolution” and after 80 s. This chapter will focus on his political pose and choice made facing difficulties, though which we analyze his strategy to survive and highlight his liberal personality.Chapter 2: analyze the independent and liberal personality he insists in his work on literature, translation of foreign literature and editing. This chapter will focus on the wisdom he showed during the time when he devoted to literature works and analyze things he insists and gives up under special times.Chapter 3: we will focus on his belief on literature during the special times in China instead of his achievements in literature. Emphasis will be laid on the choice he made to study stone rubbings and classical literature during the tough times of his life and the personality he insists in all his life.Discussion part will be collection of reports on understanding and comments on Shi from all over the world and how people memorize him after his death.
